Animation Project

A Day in the Life of a Flower

This project was really overwhelming to me at first. I was sure I couldn’t do it. I am astonished at the outcome. I just had to break it down in to doable steps. I started by creating the different elements I would need for each scene and making them, from painting backgrounds to cutting the flower, insects etc. I used the Cricut to cut the construction paper elements. Was able to find a lot of good artwork on flaticon.com and freepik.com. I decided to do 15 frames per second and 30 seconds total. I was glad I had familiarized myself with the Cricut before doing this. Made it so much faster, and I think cuter having the daisy, bumble bee and butterfly for example be so crisp. I also decided to make the stem and the petals of the flower be made out of pipe cleaner so she could have more personality. I initially tried to use iMovie to make the animation and found it was taking so long to edit the time of each frame and the transitions etc so was assisted by my sister in law in using Adobe Premier. It was so easy once she helped me. We uploaded the 450 images and it pretty much did the rest. She also showed me Pixabay for music to add to the video. I hope to do a little animation workshop at my studio this summer.
